I walk in to this venue, it’s a very cramped space. People are already front and centre watching Tom Ward perform. At the top of the stairs I notice this guy standing next to me, in a very incognito manner. He was a man in this furry jacket and dark shades across his eyes. His arms are folded, just staring at the stage, with a huge smile across his face.
The audience start to murmur, people stare at this guy. I nudge him slightly, “Do you think Reuben will care if I take a couple of photos throughout the concert.”
“That’d be awesome. My photographer cancelled last minute. See Shane, he can help you out too.”
Reuben’s presence on stage is so authentic. From an audience’s perspective you can really tell that he LOVES making music. “Does anyone have a spare battery?” he addresses the crowd and makes light of the tech issues. He’s beyond stoked that this is his first sold out show.
Watching Reuben perform live, was absolutely mesmerising. One moment he was opening with “Down Under” from Men at Work, the next, an hour had past and he was asking the venue managers if it was okat to jam a little longer. The audience was up dancing as Tom Ward hopped back on stage and the two of them were killing it for one hell of an encore.
For those of you in Melbourne this August, you’d be crazy to miss seeing Reuben Live. Tickets available here
